TBC Phase 2-5 Gold-Making Strategy

This article is built from the local Thunderstrike phase strategy, recipe, material, consumable, and source tables. It is strategy guidance, not a blind buy list: every item should still be checked against current Thunderstrike price, market average, supply, sale speed, and competition.

Overall read

Phase markets usually move in waves. The first wave is speculation, the second is actual raid and gearing demand, and the third is the supply dump when farmers, crafters, and hoarders all list at once. The strongest strategy is to buy where current prices are below normal and sale speed is real, then sell into clear demand windows rather than holding everything until the crowd arrives.

Gems and enchants tend to be reliable because every gear upgrade creates another purchase. Consumables are repeat demand but can be overcrafted near raid reset. Recipe materials can spike hard, but only when the finished craft is popular and the recipe or raid drop bottleneck does not block sales. Important gem markets across phases include Runed Living Ruby, Delicate Living Ruby, Bold Living Ruby, Teardrop Living Ruby, Rigid Dawnstone, Gleaming Dawnstone, Potent Noble Topaz, Glinting Noble Topaz, Solid Star of Elune, Enduring Talasite, Lustrous Star of Elune, Royal Nightseye, Purified Nightseye, Runed Crimson Spinel, Delicate Crimson Spinel, Bold Crimson Spinel, Teardrop Crimson Spinel, Rigid Lionseye.

Phase 2

Phase 2: Tier 5 progression, Nether Vortex crafts, gems, and raid consumables

The main money is in preparation for SSC and The Eye: players replace gear, re-gem, re-enchant, and push harder progression consumes. The safest angle is not blind primal hoarding; it is buying below normal price where the output market is already moving.

Phase 3

Phase 3: Black Temple and Hyjal demand, shadow resistance, enchants, and Tier 6 gearing

Phase 3 is front-loaded. Shadow resistance and Tier 6 gearing can move materials quickly, but once guilds finish Mother Shahraz preparation, some demand can fade sharply. Treat resistance materials as a timing trade, not a permanent hold.

Best markets to watch

Shadow resistance gear materials, Primal Shadow, Primal Life, Void Crystals and enchanting mats, Raid consumables, Elixir of Demonslaying, Coilfang Armaments and reputation catch-up items, Pattern-gated craft materials

Materials and inputs

Heart of Darkness, Primal Shadow, Shadowcloth, Primal Mooncloth, Spellcloth, Primal Fire, Primal Air, Arcane Dust, Large Prismatic Shard, Living Ruby, Dawnstone

Phase 4

Phase 4: Zul'Aman, catch-up gear, Greater Drums, Executioner, and badge-market shifts

Phase 4 is a smaller economy wave, so avoid overcommitting. Zul'Aman and badge gear create catch-up demand, while Greater Drums and Executioner can move specific inputs. This phase rewards quick turns more than deep stockpiles.

Best markets to watch

Greater Drums materials, Executioner enchanting mats, Primal Nether and Nether Vortex, Alt/catch-up gems, enchants, and consumables

Materials and inputs

Netherweave Cloth, Knothide Leather, Fel Iron Ore, Adamantite Ore, Adamantite Powder, Felweed, Terocone, Mana Thistle, Living Ruby, Arcane Dust

Sell or avoid

Primal Nether and Nether Vortex if supply explodes, P4-only niche markets

How to play it

Phase 5

Phase 5: Sunwell, epic gems, haste demand, Hardened Khorium, and supply shocks

Phase 5 is the big late-game reset. Sunwell pushes hard consumable use and creates new high-end craft demand, while badge and Shattered Sun systems can increase epic gem supply. Buy early where inputs are genuinely cheap, but sell before the wider market floods.

Best markets to watch

Khorium Ore and Khorium Bars, Primal Might, Spellcloth, Shadowcloth, Primal Mooncloth, Primals for Sunwell crafts, Terocone and Netherbloom, Destruction Potions and raid consumes, Mark of the Illidari, Scroll of Strength and Scroll of Agility, Badges of Justice

Recipe demand

Sunblessed Gauntlets, Void Shatter, Hard Khorium Band, Loop of Forged Power, Quick Lionseye, Reckless Pyrestone, Ring of Flowing Life, Fletcher's Gloves of the Phoenix, Gloves of Immortal Dusk, Sun-Drenched Scale Gloves

Sell or avoid
